Neil's Metal Fabrication Student News
February, 2013 - Victor Technologies
Contest Winners
When I received an e-mail across my desk  back in Sept./Oct, 2012  from one of our  advisory members, Mr.Thomas Ferri who is the chairmen for Boston's AWS section, he mentioned that I might find this competition worth competing with my metal fab/ welding students. So, we pushed forward with Victor's Technologies contest with specific requirements, right down to the letter of the contest.
Well, we here at Assabet are just thrilled and so elated for Mikayla's winning for her writing theme paper, and Jessie and Mitch's winnings for their welding sculpture.  I especially enjoyed Mitch's and Jessie's theme since I am a retired US Navy Seabee Chief and used welding, cutting, and fabricating throughout my entire 24 year military career in the US Navy Seabees as a SW Steel Worker. Victor torches have always been a staple of quality, and durability in my view of cutting and heating torches, and the US Navy always used them , as well as many job site and shops I worked in after my military career.
Here at Assabet Valley, our senior students are required to develop a portfolio, a welded project, power point, and a presentation to a panel of  advisory judges. So when your competition required a portfolio with step-by-step processes, brain storming, materials used, photos, etc .. it was right in line with our curriculum in our metal fabrication program.

Best of Health,

Mr. Neil Mansfield,
Lead Teacher Metal Fabrication,
USN Ret. Chief
